How to view the business product catalog

The product catalog is a list of all the products your business has added to KiddyCash. Families browsing your business on the platform can see these products, and parents or kids can use their KiddyCash wallets to pay for them. Before you can manage anything, you need to know how to find and read your catalog.

This article walks you through opening the catalog and understanding what you see.

What is a product catalog?

A product catalog is a central list of every item or service your business has registered on KiddyCash. Each entry in the catalog represents one product — with its name, price, status, and other details your customers see. Whether you run a school canteen in Nairobi, a uniform shop, or a subscription-based tutoring service, your catalog is where all your offerings live.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • A verified KiddyCash Business account (KYB verification completed)
  • At least one business created on the portal
  • Your business ID — visible in the URL when you are logged in, or in your business settings

How to open the product catalog

  1. Log in to the KiddyCash Business portal using your registered email and password.
  2. In the left-hand navigation menu, select Products. The catalog page loads automatically.
  3. Review the catalog table. Each row is one product. The columns show the key details at a glance.

Tip: Replace :business_id in the URL with your actual business ID to jump directly to your catalog at any time.

Understanding the catalog table

ColumnWhat it means
Product nameThe name customers see when browsing your business
PriceThe amount in KES that will be charged to a customer’s KiddyCash wallet
StatusWhether the product is Active (visible to customers) or Inactive (hidden)
Transaction codeA short code customers or cashiers can enter to trigger a payment for this product
Date addedWhen the product was first created in the system

What you can do from the catalog

The catalog is a reference view — it shows you what exists. From here you can:

  • Review all products in one place before making changes
  • Navigate to a product to edit its details — see how to edit a business product for step-by-step instructions
  • Identify gaps — if a product you sell is missing, you can add a new product directly from the catalog page using the Add product button

Things to check regularly

  • Confirm that prices reflect your current KES pricing, especially after a supplier change
  • Make sure seasonal or campaign-specific products are set to Inactive when not in use
  • Check transaction codes are correct — families and staff in markets like Nairobi often use these codes at the point of sale
