How to Edit a Kid Business Product
Once your kiddy business is up and running, your product catalog will need to stay fresh — whether you’re adjusting prices for the Nairobi market, updating a description, or swapping out a photo after a new batch of handmade goods arrives. Editing a product is quick, but a few details are worth knowing before you dive in.
If you haven’t added your first product yet, start with how to add a business product before coming back here.
Before You Start
Make sure you’re logged into the KiddyCash app with the account that owns the kiddy business. Only the business owner can edit products — a parent or guardian with linked access can view, but changes have to come from you.
Steps to Edit a Product
-
Open your business dashboard. From the home screen, tap My Business, then select the business whose product you want to update. You can also go directly to your product list at https://kiddy.cash/kiddy-business/:business_id/product — replace
:business_idwith your actual business ID, which you’ll find in your business settings. -
Find the product. Your catalog lists all active and paused products. Use the search bar or scroll to find the one you want. Tap it to open the product detail view.
-
Tap “Edit Product.” The button sits at the top right of the product detail screen. This opens the product editor — the same form you used when you first created the item.
-
Make your changes. You can update any of the following fields:
- Product name — Keep it clear and specific. “Beaded bracelet – blue” sells better than just “bracelet.”
- Price — Prices are shown in KES. If you accept M-Pesa payments through your business, make sure your price reflects any transaction fees you want to cover.
- Description — This is your pitch. Mention materials, size, turnaround time, or anything a buyer in your area would want to know.
- Photos — You can replace or reorder images. The first photo is what customers see in search results, so lead with your best shot.
- Stock quantity — Update this whenever your inventory changes. Running out of stock without updating this can lead to orders you can’t fulfill.
- Availability status — Toggle a product to Paused if it’s temporarily unavailable instead of deleting it. You keep all the product data and can reactivate later.
-
Save your changes. Tap Save at the bottom of the editor. Your updates go live immediately in your catalog — no approval wait time.
-
Double-check the live listing. After saving, tap View Product to see exactly what customers see. Confirm the price, photos, and description all look right.
A Few Things Worth Knowing
- Editing doesn’t affect past orders. Changes apply from the moment you save — any orders already placed keep the details from when the buyer purchased.
- Product history is tracked. KiddyCash logs edits with timestamps, so you can see what changed and when. This is useful if you’re managing a growing catalog and want to track your own pricing decisions over time.
- Photos compress automatically. You don’t need to resize before uploading, but clear, well-lit images always look better than blurry ones even after compression.
