How to add a business product
Adding a product to KiddyCash makes it visible to kids and families browsing the platform. When a child explores the discovery feed — whether they’re in Nairobi, Lagos, or anywhere else across Africa — your product can appear as something they can save up for, request, or purchase using their KiddyCash wallet. This guide walks you through creating your first product from scratch.
What is a product?
A product is any item or service your business offers through KiddyCash. It could be a school bag, a data bundle, a meal plan, or a subscription box. Once published, products appear in discovery flows — the browsing experience kids use to find things they want to spend or save their allowance on.
Before you begin, make sure your business account has completed KYB (Know Your Business) verification. Unverified businesses cannot publish products. If you’re unsure of your verification status, check your account settings in the Business portal.
Step-by-step: Creating a product
-
Log in to the Business portal. Go to https://business.kiddy.cash and sign in with your business credentials.
-
Navigate to your Products section. In the left sidebar, click Products. This opens your product catalog — the full list of items your business has created. If you haven’t added anything yet, the catalog will be empty. You can learn more about navigating this area in how to view the business product catalog.
-
Open the product creation form. Click the Add Product button in the top-right corner of the catalog page. This takes you directly to the creation form at: https://business.kiddy.cash/business/:business_id/product/create (Replace
:business_idwith your actual business ID, visible in your account URL or settings.) -
Enter the product name. Type a clear, descriptive name. For example: “Lunchbox Set” or “Monthly Stationery Bundle.” Keep it short and easy for a child to understand.
-
Write a product description. Describe what the product is and why a kid would want it. Avoid jargon. If your product costs KES 500 and includes three items, say so plainly.
-
Set the price. Enter the price in your local currency (e.g., KES for Kenya). This is the amount that will be deducted from a child’s KiddyCash wallet at the point of purchase or redemption.
-
Upload a product image. Add a clear, high-quality photo. Products with images perform significantly better in discovery. The recommended size is at least 800×800 pixels.
-
Choose a category. Select the category that best fits your product (e.g., Food, Education, Clothing, Entertainment). Categories help the platform surface your product to the right audience.
-
Set availability. Choose whether the product is Active (visible to families now) or Draft (saved but not yet published). Start with Draft if you’re still reviewing details.
-
Save the product. Click Save Product. If you selected Active, the product is now live and can appear in discovery flows immediately.
After you publish
Once your product is live, you can update its details at any time. See how to edit a business product for a full walkthrough of making changes after publishing.
