How to edit a business product
Update a product when the price, description, or availability changes.
Keeping your product catalog accurate matters — especially when prices shift, stock runs out, or you want to refine how a product appears to families browsing your store. This guide walks you through editing an existing product on the KiddyCash Business portal.
If you haven’t listed a product yet, start with how to add a business product first, then come back here.
Before you edit
A few things worth knowing before you make changes:
- Edits take effect immediately after saving. If a family has your product in a pending transaction, the updated price or description will reflect on any new transactions — not retroactive ones.
- You need the Owner or Manager role on your business account to edit products. Staff accounts with limited permissions won’t see the edit controls.
- If you’re running an active campaign tied to a product, editing the base price won’t automatically update the campaign discount. Review your campaigns separately after saving.
Steps to edit a product
-
Sign in to the KiddyCash Business portal and select the business you want to manage from your dashboard.
-
Go to your product catalog. In the left navigation, click Products. This opens your full catalog view. For tips on filtering and searching within the catalog, see how to view the business product catalog.
-
Find the product you want to edit. Use the search bar or scroll through your listings. Click the product name or thumbnail to open its detail view.
-
Open the edit screen. Click the Edit button in the top-right corner of the product detail page. You can also navigate directly to the edit screen using your product’s unique URL:
https://business.kiddy.cash/business/:business_id/product/:product_id/editReplace:business_idand:product_idwith your actual IDs, which appear in the URL when viewing the product. -
Make your changes. The edit form lets you update:
- Product name and description — Be specific. Families and kids browsing your catalog respond better to clear, friendly copy. Mention local details where relevant, like “Available for pickup in Nairobi CBD” or pricing in KES.
- Price — Enter the updated amount in KES. KiddyCash currently supports KES for all business transactions.
- Availability — Toggle the product on or off. Marking a product unavailable hides it from families without deleting it — useful for seasonal items or temporary stockouts.
- Product image — Upload a new image if the product look has changed. Recommended size is 800×800px.
- Category and tags — Adjust these to improve discoverability within your catalog.
-
Save your changes. Click Save product at the bottom of the form. You’ll see a confirmation banner. The updated product is now live in your catalog.
Tips for keeping your catalog clean
- Review your catalog regularly, especially after M-Pesa payment integrations or pricing changes that may affect what you charge families.
- If you have many products to update at once, plan to batch your edits — there’s no bulk-edit feature yet, but it’s on the roadmap. Check what’s new in products in KiddyCash for the latest updates.
