How to add a kid business product
A product in KiddyCash is anything your kid-run business sells — a handmade bracelet, a bag of chin-chin, a car-wash service, a digital drawing. Adding a product makes it visible to buyers and lets you collect payments directly into your KiddyCash wallet.
This guide walks you through adding your first product from scratch. If you’ve done this before and just need to change something, see how to edit a business product.
Before you start
Make sure you have:
- A KiddyCash account with a kiddy business already set up. Your business has its own ID (called a
business_id) — you’ll see it in your business dashboard. - At least one item or service you’re ready to sell.
- A clear photo of your product if it’s a physical item (optional but strongly recommended — buyers in Nairobi markets and everywhere else trust listings with photos).
Steps to add a product
-
Open your business product page. Go directly to your business product area at
https://kiddy.cash/kiddy-business/:business_id/product, replacing:business_idwith your actual business ID. You can find your business ID on your business profile page inside the app. -
Tap “Add Product”. Look for the + Add Product button near the top of the page. Tap or click it to open the product creation form.
-
Enter a product name. Type a short, clear name — for example, Braided friendship bracelet or Weekend car wash (saloon car). Keep it specific so buyers know exactly what they’re getting.
-
Write a description. Describe what you’re selling. Include details like size, colour, what’s included, or how the service works. If you’re selling food, mention ingredients. The more you say, the easier it is for a buyer to say yes.
-
Set a price. Enter the amount in KES (Kenyan Shillings). If your buyer pays by M-Pesa or from their KiddyCash wallet, the price they see here is what they’ll pay. Make sure your price covers your costs and gives you a profit.
-
Choose a category. Pick the category that best describes your product — for example, Crafts, Food & Snacks, Services, or Digital goods. Categories help buyers find your listing faster.
-
Upload a photo (recommended). Tap Upload Image and choose a clear photo from your device. Good lighting makes a big difference. If you don’t have a photo yet, you can skip this step and add one later by editing the product.
-
Set availability. Choose whether the product is Available now or Out of stock. Only products marked as available will show to buyers.
-
Review and save. Check everything once more — name, price in KES, description, photo. When you’re happy, tap Save Product. Your product is now live on your business page.
What happens next
Once saved, buyers linked to your business can see and purchase your product. Payments go straight to your KiddyCash wallet. You’ll get a notification each time someone buys.
