How to open the family overview page
The family overview page (also called the family detail page) is your central dashboard for managing your household in KiddyCash. From here you can see your family name, linked children, wallet balances, and settings — all in one place.
If you have not set up a family yet, start with how to create a new family before following the steps below.
What is the family overview page?
In KiddyCash, a family is a group that connects a parent or guardian to one or more children. Each family has its own profile, linked kids’ wallets, allowance rules, and transaction history. The family overview page shows a summary of all of this at a glance — useful whether you are managing one child in Nairobi or several across different schools.
How to open the family overview page
Follow these steps exactly as shown:
-
Open the KiddyCash app on your phone and sign in with your registered email or phone number.
-
Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner of the screen. This opens the main navigation drawer.
-
Tap “Family” in the navigation list. This takes you to your list of families. Most parents have one family, but you can manage more than one if needed.
-
Tap your family name from the list. This opens the family overview page for that household.
-
You are now on the family overview page. You will see your family details, linked children, and quick-access options.
You can also go directly to your family overview page using this link — replace :family_id with your actual family ID:

Your family ID is visible in the URL when you open your family page inside the app.
What you will see on the family overview page
| Section | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Family name | The display name you chose when creating the family |
| Parent/guardian details | Your name and verified KYC status |
| Linked children | Each child’s name, age, and wallet balance (shown in KES) |
| Allowance rules | Active allowance schedules set for each child |
| Badges | Any achievement badges earned by children |
| Transaction activity | Recent wallet transactions across the family |
If any section appears incomplete, you may need to update your family details to fill in missing information.
Good to know
- KYC (Know Your Customer) verification is required before you can fund wallets or approve transactions. If you see a banner prompting you to verify your identity, complete that step first.
- Wallet balances are displayed in KES by default for Kenyan families. Balances update in real time after every transaction.
- If your family uses the loans feature — for example, advancing a child money before their allowance date — read why teaching kids about loans creates better financial adults and how family loans work as a financial education tool to understand how this works inside KiddyCash.
Troubleshooting
