How to Review a Kid Transaction
A transaction in KiddyCash is any movement of money in or out of your kiddy account — for example, receiving your weekly allowance, getting paid for a chore, or spending at a kiddy business. Reviewing a transaction lets you see exactly what happened, when it happened, and what the current status is.
What You Will Need
- Your KiddyCash account open on your phone or browser
- The transaction you want to check (it can be recent or older)
Step-by-Step: How to Open a Transaction
- Log in to your KiddyCash kiddy account.
- From your home screen, tap Transactions in the bottom navigation bar. This opens your full transaction history.
- Find the transaction you want to review. Transactions are listed from newest to oldest.
- Tap the transaction row. This opens the Transaction Detail Page.
- You can also go directly to a transaction if you have the link — your direct transaction page looks like this:
https://kiddy.cash/kiddy/account/:kiddy_account_id/transaction/:transaction_idReplace:kiddy_account_idwith your account ID and:transaction_idwith the specific transaction ID. Your parent or guardian can share this link with you.
What You Will See on the Transaction Detail Page
| Field | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Transaction Code | A unique reference number for this transaction — useful if you need to report a problem |
| Amount | How much money moved, shown in your local currency (e.g. KES in Kenya) |
| Type | Whether this is an allowance, chore payment, business purchase, or other category |
| Date & Time | Exactly when the transaction was created |
| Status | The current state of the transaction (see below) |
| From / To | Who sent the money and who received it |
| Description | Any note added by your parent, guardian, or the business |
Understanding Transaction Statuses
| Status | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Pending | The transaction has been created but not yet approved or completed |
| Completed | The money has successfully moved — your balance is updated |
| Cancelled | The transaction was stopped before it completed |
| Failed | Something went wrong and the money did not move |
If you see a Pending status on a transaction your parent or guardian created for the family, ask them to check it. They can follow the steps in How to Review a Pending Family Transaction to approve or action it.
A Note on Chore Transactions
Many kids in families across Nairobi and beyond earn money through chores logged in KiddyCash. When a parent marks a chore as complete and sends payment, it appears here as a transaction. Learning to track these payments builds real money skills early — something explored in depth in our blog post on how chores connect to financial literacy for kids. You can also read about why chores still matter in modern family life for more context.
If your parent has not yet created a transaction for you, they can follow the steps in How to Create a Family Transaction to get started.
Troubleshooting
- Cannot find your transaction? Check that you are logged into the correct kiddy account — you may have more than one if you also run a kiddy business.
- Transaction amount looks wrong? Note the transaction code and contact your parent or KiddyCash support.
- Status stuck on Pending? Your parent or guardian needs to take action — share the transaction link with them.
