How to create a business transaction
A business transaction is a manual entry you create directly on one of your business accounts in the KiddyCash Business portal. This is useful when you need to record a direct payment, issue a reward, or make a correction that isn’t tied to an automatic allowance or campaign — for example, crediting a child’s wallet after they completed a special task at your Nairobi store, or issuing a one-off KES payment outside your normal subscription cycle.
This guide walks you through creating a business transaction from scratch.
Before you start
Make sure you have:
- A verified business account on KiddyCash (KYB — Know Your Business — verification must be complete)
- At least one business account set up under your business profile
- The transaction code or recipient details ready, if applicable
If you’re used to recording transactions on the family side of KiddyCash, note that the business flow is slightly different from how you create a family transaction. Business transactions give you more control over amount, reference, and account routing.
Steps to create a business transaction
-
Log in to the KiddyCash Business portal at business.kiddy.cash. Use the email address associated with your business owner account.
-
Go to your business account. From the dashboard, select the business you want to work with. Then click Accounts in the left navigation menu.
-
Open the correct account. You may have more than one business account — for example, a KES operating account and a separate rewards account. Click the account you want to post the transaction against.
-
Start a new transaction. Inside the account view, click the New Transaction button (top right). This opens the transaction creation form. You can also go there directly using your account-specific link:
https://business.kiddy.cash/business/:business_id/account/:business_account_id/transaction/createReplace:business_idand:business_account_idwith your actual IDs, which appear in your browser’s address bar when you’re viewing that account. -
Fill in the transaction details. The form will ask for:
- Transaction type — choose from options such as Credit, Debit, or Transfer
- Amount — enter the value in KES (or your configured currency)
- Description — add a short note explaining what this transaction is for. Be specific: for example, “Weekend shelf-stacking bonus – Mombasa Road branch”
- Recipient — select the family account, child wallet, or internal account receiving the funds
- Transaction code — if your business uses codes to track campaigns or reward programmes, enter it here
-
Review the details carefully. Double-check the amount and recipient before submitting. If you’re unsure whether a related transaction is already pending on the family side, read how to review a pending family transaction to avoid duplicating entries.
-
Submit the transaction. Click Create Transaction. You’ll see a confirmation screen with a transaction reference number. Save this for your records.
Why this matters beyond the numbers
Giving kids direct, traceable rewards through KiddyCash — rather than informal cash — builds habits that last. Research and real-world experience show that chores still matter in modern family life, and that connecting chores to financial literacy gives children a practical foundation for managing money. When your business is part of that loop, you’re doing more than processing payments.
Troubleshooting
- Can’t see the New Transaction button? Your account role may not include transaction permissions. Ask your KiddyCash account administrator to review your access level.
- Transaction failed after submission? Check that your business account has sufficient balance and that KYB verification is still active.
