How a child views their investment
An investment on KiddyCash is money set aside to grow over time. Instead of spending it right away, it earns returns — like a savings goal that works for you while you sleep. This guide shows you, as a child account holder, exactly how to open your investment detail page and read the numbers you see there.
If an adult in your family has not yet set up an investment for you, ask them to follow the steps in How to create a child investment first.
Before you start
Make sure you have:
- Your KiddyCash child account login (email or phone number + PIN)
- At least one active investment already linked to your account
- A phone or browser — the steps below work on both
Step-by-step: Opening your investment detail page
- Log in to your KiddyCash account at kiddy.cash using your PIN or password.
- Go to your dashboard. This is the first screen you see after logging in. It shows your wallet balance, recent transactions, and any badges you have earned.
- Tap the Investments tab in the bottom menu (on mobile) or the left sidebar (on a browser). If you do not see it, ask a parent or guardian — they may need to enable it for your account.
- Select the investment you want to view. A list of your active investments appears. Tap any one to open its detail page.
- Your direct link. Once inside, the page address will look like this:
https://kiddy.cash/kiddy/account/:kiddy_account_id/investment/:investment_id— where the colons and words are replaced by your real account and investment numbers. You can bookmark this link to return quickly.

What you see on the investment detail page
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Investment name | The label given when the investment was created — for example, “School Fees Fund” or “Nairobi Trip Savings.” |
| Principal amount | The original money put in, shown in KES (Kenyan Shillings) or your local currency. |
| Current value | What the investment is worth right now, including any returns earned so far. |
| Returns earned | The extra money the investment has made. This is current value minus principal. |
| Start date | The day the investment was opened. |
| Maturity date | The day the investment finishes and the money becomes available. |
| Status | Shows whether the investment is Active, Matured, or Withdrawn. |
Tip for families using M-Pesa: If your family funded the investment through M-Pesa, the principal amount reflects the money after it was deposited into your KiddyCash wallet and then moved into the investment. The wallet and the investment are separate — your wallet balance does not include investment funds.
Why this matters
Watching your investment grow — even by a few shillings — builds a real habit. Understanding allowances and what you do with them is the foundation. Read Why allowances matter for modern families and How allowances work as a family financial tool to see the bigger picture behind why KiddyCash works the way it does.
