How a child views their allowance list
Your allowance list shows every allowance that a parent or guardian has set up for your KiddyCash account. Think of it like a schedule — it tells you what money is coming, how often, and whether it is currently active.
This article walks you through opening that list and understanding what you see.
What is an allowance?
An allowance is a fixed amount of money sent to your KiddyCash wallet on a regular schedule — for example, every week or every month. A parent or guardian creates the allowance from their side. You cannot create one yourself, but you can view everything that has been set up for you.
Why it matters: Knowing what to expect — and when — is the first step in managing money well. Research shows that schools play a bigger role in financial literacy than most parents realise, but understanding your own account is where the habit starts.
Before you begin
Make sure you have:
- A KiddyCash account (personal kiddy account or kiddy business account)
- Your login details
- The KiddyCash app installed, or access through a web browser
Steps: View your allowance list
-
Log in to your KiddyCash account using your username and password.
-
Go to your allowance page. You can open it directly here: https://kiddy.cash/kiddy/account/:kiddy_account_id/allowance (Replace
:kiddy_account_idwith your actual account ID, or tap the Allowances section from your dashboard.) -
Review the list. You will see all allowances linked to your account, both active and inactive.
Understanding your allowance list
Each allowance entry shows the following information:
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Allowance name | A label given by your parent or guardian, e.g. “School lunch money” |
| Amount | How much you receive per cycle, shown in your local currency (e.g. KES 500) |
| Frequency | How often the allowance pays out — weekly or monthly |
| Next payment date | The date the next amount will arrive in your wallet |
| Status | Whether the allowance is Active (running) or Inactive (paused or ended) |
What the status means
- Active — The allowance is running. You will receive the amount on the next scheduled date. If you are in Nairobi and your guardian sends money via M-Pesa, an active allowance means funds will land in your KiddyCash wallet automatically on schedule.
- Inactive — The allowance has been paused or cancelled by your parent or guardian. No payments will arrive until they reactivate it. Contact your parent or guardian if you think this is a mistake.
Can I change my allowance?
No. Only a parent or guardian can create or edit an allowance. If you want a different amount or schedule, talk to them directly. They can set up a weekly allowance or a monthly allowance from their account.
Families that connect KiddyCash with their child’s school routine often find it easier to align allowance schedules with learning goals. See how in how schools and families can collaborate on financial education.
